On Thursday 6th May, the Maitland Saints Australian Football Club juniors, senior men’s and senior women’s teams will be participating in Retina Australia’s ‘Do it in the Dark’ fundraising program, whichchallenges people to perform an everyday activity wearing glasses which simulate the experience of people living with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP).
Will be running through some drills wearing glasses which simulate 10% of normal vision
RP is a genetic hereditary condition which affects 1 in 3000 Australians
RP causes progressive blindness, most often beginning in childhood. It results in slowly increasing tunnel-vision and often leaves those with the condition completely blind in their adult life.
